Eduardo Lopez obtained his medical degree at Universidad Tecnológica Pereira, Colombia in March 2002. He practiced medicine as a general practitioner for several years in his native Colombia before moving to Los Angeles. He completed his internal medicine residency as well as a nephrology fellowship at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)-Olive View Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a specialist in clinical hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension. He currently serves as the physician in charge of the department of nephrology at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center.

Eduardo has served in a variety of other leadership positions at Kaiser Permanente, including the medical directorship for the San Fernando Fresenius Hemodialysis Unit, physician champion for the Hypertension Committee, and physician champion for the Hospital Care Experience Committee, for which he works with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to improve inpatient communication and the patient’s overall care experience.

Eduardo has represented Kaiser Permanente International as a guest speaker at numerous events in Southern California since 2014 and coordinated field visits. He has also served as an international speaker in Colombia and authored a Spanish-language book chapter about KP HealthConnect and its value for a Kaiser Permanente practitioner.

Eduardo is a clinical instructor of medicine and UCLA Department of Medicine faculty member and has a personal interest in medical education. He has received multiple recognition and teaching awards during his postgraduate training and after joining Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center in January 2013.
